Henry T. Wilson (1959 – 2015)
Northwood mourns the loss of our dear friend, leader and colleague, Henry (“Hal”) Tyler Wilson. Hal passed away unexpectedly while on vacation with his family on August 26th, 2015. He will be greatly missed.
Hal was a devoted University of Virginia alum, having attended the school for both his undergraduate BA and graduate MBA degrees. He often referred to himself as a “Double Hoo.” He worked at Merrill Lynch and Irving Trust Company before joining Northwood in 1991.
Hal was our Co-Managing Partner, leading efforts across the portfolio. He served as a director, and in many cases, Chairman, of dozens of Northwood portfolio companies. Additionally, Hal was a long time member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Bernard’s School in New York City.
Hal embodied an ethos of doing things the right way. He was an incredibly talented individual who exemplified a strong work ethic, integrity, selfless service to others and, above all, love for his family. We will always remember him for his good sense of humor, his honest approach, his loyalty to friends, and his love for life. Hal was a pleasure to work with.
He is survived by his wife, Alison, and their three children, Henry, Sophie and Preston.
