Investment Strategy

Northwood invests across various industries and at all stages of company growth, and given our flexible style, we can be very creative in structuring investments to best meet a company’s needs. We invest in both control and minority positions, and participate in venture, buyout, consolidation, growth, recapitalization, and turnaround situations. Our substantial experience enables us to be value-added members of our portfolio company boards, and together with management we seek to build world-class organizations to execute growth plans and generate superior returns.

After making an initial investment, Northwood’s professionals work actively with management on strategic issues including, but not limited to, long-term planning, acquisitions, financings, and executive recruitment. While we participate actively on the Board of Directors and through ongoing communications with senior management, we do not seek an operating level role. Northwood has excellent relationships with highly regarded professionals in many venture capital, banking, executive search, accounting, legal, and consulting firms, and we are eager to share these resources for the benefit of our portfolio companies.
